TOLEDO, OH – Lucas County Canine Care & Control (LC4) is offering an adoption special to celebrate Star Wars Day.
Dogs aged 6 months or older can be adopted for just $4 plus $25 for a Lucas County dog license. The adoptable dogs are all spayed or neutered, have their initial vaccinations, have a registered microchip, have tested negative for heartworm disease testing and are current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention.
LC4 director Kelly Sears tells us, “May the Fourth be With You, right? With the current trends in the ongoing animal shelter crisis, we all need to use The Force to find good and happy homes for these dogs. Because of the high populations in shelters, including ours, coupled with slow adoptions, dogs are staying in shelters longer and longer. The best way to help a dog have a good outcome, is to help it’s time in shelter care be as short as possible.”
As of today, of the 165 dogs in care at LC4, more than 80 dogs and puppies are searching for new homes. Visit them at 410 S. Erie St. during adoption hours Mon-Fri 11-5:30 and Sat-Sun 11-4:30. Please visit www.lucascountydogs.com/adoption/ to view all adoptable dogs.
If you have a resident dog and hope to adopt another dog, please bring your dog to the shelter for a meet and greet. Furthermore, we strongly encourage families to bring their children to the shelter to meet their new pet to ensure everyone gets along.
Lucas County Canine Care & Control is always looking for donations of treats, canned food, new and gently used towels, blankets, and toys. Interested volunteers should visit the shelter and complete an application or email LC4volunteers@co.lucas.oh.us. Donations can be made to Cutie’s Fund via cash, check or PayPal to help cover the costs for the medical needs of the dogs who come into the care of LC4.
May the Fourth be With You.
