LC4 has many adoptable dogs looking for a good home. The selection of adoptable dogs in our care changes often, so check back regularly.
If you are ready to add a dog to your family please visit the Canine Care Center at 1301 Monroe Street in Downtown Toledo. Adoption hours are Monday - Friday 11am-5:30pm and Saturday & Sunday 11am-4:30pm.
Once you get here, we will ask which dogs you would like to meet and an employee will bring them out to meet you. We ask every adopter to bring in all family members, both human and canine, to meet the new potential dog before finalizing the adoption.
The standard adoption fee is $100 plus a $25 Lucas County dog license. All dogs available for adoption are spayed or neutered, have had a medical evaluation including a heartworm test/treatment if needed (if over six months old), received their initial vaccinations (DHLPP, Bordetella and Rabies, if old enough), a registered microchip and have been dewormed.
Want to make sure your new furry friend is a good fit for your family? Doing a Foster-to-Adopt** trial period is a great way to learn if the dog is a good fit for your family prior to committing to adoption. When you Foster-to-Adopt, you take the dog(s) home for 14 days before deciding whether the relationship is meant to be. The dog will relax in your home and their true personality will start to shine. You will also confirm that your new dog is a good fit for your lifestyle and that all members of your family get along well.
Are you an Honorably Discharged US Military Veteran who lives in Lucas County? Visit the Lucas County Veterans Services Commission for a dog adoption voucher. The Voucher covers the entire adoption and license fee for any adoptable dog at LC4!
**the Foster-to-Adopt program is available for Lucas and Wood County residents only.
