Someone let the shelter dogs out – and it’s enriching their lives and bringing greater visibility to some amazing adoptable dogs. Lucas County Canine Care & Control (LC4) is excited to announce they have relaunched their public part of the Dogs on the Town field trip program. The program pairs participants with adoptable shelter dogs for field trips around Lucas County. Field trips can last from a few hours to the whole day (or even a sleepover!), and can include a hike at an area Metropark, lunch on a patio, a nap at a participant’s home, or some shopping at a dog-friendly business.
The field trip program was originally created for LC4 volunteers to help reduce kennel stress by giving the dogs a break from the shelter while providing dogs with enrichment and increased visibility. These outings give the shelter staff valuable insight into how the dogs behave outside a shelter environment. It’s also a great excuse to spend a day enjoying all that Lucas County has to offer.
Individuals interested in the becoming a program participant, must be at least 18 years of age and can sign up for a field trip spot at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040848AAAC2EA0F85-snout2 Field trips are available on Sundays as long as the weather permits.
