October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month – adoption fees are reduced in celebration!

Posted on

The Lucas County Canine Care & Control is featuring a month-long adoption special in celebration of Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.  For the entire month of October the adoption fee for all dogs and puppies will be discounted to only $75 plus the purchase of a license ($25 in Lucas County).  This adoption fee still includes one amazing pooch that has been spayed/neutered, had initial vaccines, deworming, microchipping, heartworm testing and preventative as well as a current dog license.

As of today, nearly 70 dogs and puppies are searching for new homes at the Canine Care Center, with more dogs going up for adoption each day. In a typical month we adopt out approximately 50 dogs or puppies. Our goal for this month is to double that number!

If you have a resident dog and are looking to adopt another dog, please be sure to bring your resident dog to visit.  We also encourage families to bring their children in to meet a potential new dog, to make sure it will be a good fit.

Not able to adopt right now, but still looking to help?  The Lucas County Canine Care & Control Center is looking for volunteers, who are at least 18 years of age, as well as donated goods such as blankets, towels, and dog supplies.
