April 15, 2018
Lucas County and Northwest Ohio has its own day of Thursday, April 19, to celebrate the people and places of the area with what is called “419 Day”. The Lucas County Commissioners and Lucas County Canine Care & Control are proud to call the 419 area code home.
To celebrate 419 Day, or 41K-9 day, Canine Care & Control will reduce adoption fees to $41.90 (plus a $25 license) and introduce ‘You will adopt better in Toledo’ T-shirt sales.
‘You will adopt better in Toledo’ T-shirts will be available for $25 and bumper stickers will be available for $5 while supplies last. Both items can be purchased at the Canine Care Center, 410 S. Erie St.
Proceeds from sales will go directly towards the Big Fix. The Big Fix is a program that offers low cost spay and neuter services through Humane Ohio for dogs licensed in Lucas County. The Big Fix helped 593 licensed dogs get spayed or neutered in 2017.
Canine Care & Control is asking the community to purchase shirts or stickers to support local dogs or maybe even adopt a Lucas County proud dog on 419 Day. Currently there are over 40 dogs looking for homes and eager to explore the 419 with a family of their own.
If you have a resident dog and are looking to adopt another dog, please be sure to bring your resident dog to visit along with their proof of license and rabies vaccination.
