Public Snout & About Field Trip To Be Held September 26th

Posted on

Snout & About, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 26th, is modeled after the Dogs on the Town (DOTT) program, which allows Canine Care & Control volunteers to take dogs from the Canine Care Center on day trip adventures into the community.

Snout & About opens up that same opportunity to explore Lucas County and Toledo to non-volunteers. Starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, dogs can be picked up at the shelter at 410 S. Erie St. In an effort to abide by social distancing and to make the pick-up of your dog more streamline you will make an appointment to pick up your pup.

Canine Care & Control asks that the dogs be returned between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Anyone is welcome to participate, and there is no cost to take a dog on a field trip. Participants must be at least 18 years of age, provide photo identification, and have a genuine love for dogs.

We cannot guarantee that we will have a dog that will fit exactly what you are looking for (ie: not wanting to take a pitbull type dog out as a large percentage of the dogs in our care are pitbull type dogs) but the staff will do their best to match up dogs with their Snout & About partner based on the answer to the questions asked when you sign up. A collar, harness, leash, map of local parks, and a dog-goodie bag will be provided to all participants.
