The 4th of July weekend is one of the busiest times of the year for animal shelters nationwide. During the fireworks and other festivities, dogs often get startled and become separated from their owners. To help reunite dogs that get lost this weekend, Lucas County Canine Care & Control is waiving many fees for owners reclaiming their dogs.
All stray dogs that come in between Friday, July 1st, and Tuesday, July 5th, and are claimed by their owners between Saturday, July 2nd, and Wednesday, July 6th, need only have a current Lucas County dog license to go home.
As always, people missing their dogs are encouraged to come and walk through the shelter daily. Photos of all dogs taken in can be viewed at www.lucascountydogs.com. The shelter will be open regular hours Friday through Sunday, open 11-3 on Monday July 4th and back to regular hours on Tuesday July 5th.
