Dog Foster Event on October 8th

Posted on

Lucas County Canine Care & Control is asking for the public’s help in placing 30 adoptable dogs into temporary foster homes.

On Saturday, October 8th from 11:00am-3:00pm LC4 will be hosting a dog fostering event with the hope of alleviating the number of dogs in the shelter while simultaneously giving the dogs a break from the stress of shelter life. Foster families are asked to house the dogs for at least 14 days while helping LC4 showcase the dogs on their private social media channels and out in the community at dog friendly places. Foster dogs will be sent home by appointment only. To schedule an appointment visit, https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040848AAAC2EA0F85-covid19

Available dogs are behaviorally and medically evaluated, have had initial vaccines, heartworm testing, deworming, spay/neuter surgery, and microchip with lifetime registration. For the month of October the only cost to adopt a dog will be the purchase of a 2022 license ($25 in Lucas County) and the donation of a bag of individually wrapped candy for LC4’s upcoming Trunk or Treat event.

As of today, more than 180 dogs and puppies are being housed at LC4, with multiple dogs coming in each day. Our Lucas County dogs need you now more than ever. There’s never been a better time to bring home four-legged happiness. If you have a resident dog and are looking to foster or adopt another dog, please be sure to bring your resident dog for a meet and greet. Also, families are encouraged to bring their children to LC4 to meet their new housemate.
