Lucas County Canine Care & Control is again partnering this weekend with Best Friends Animal Society for the Clear the Shelter Adoption Event to encourage the adoption of dogs.
From Friday, September 16 through Sunday, September 18, Best Friends Animal Society is sponsoring the adoption fees for dogs adopted during the event. Available dogs are behaviorally and medically evaluated, have had initial vaccines, heartworm testing, deworming, spay/neuter surgery, and microchip with lifetime registration. The only cost to adopt a dog will be the purchase of a 2022 license ($25 in Lucas County).
As of today, more than 55 dogs and puppies are searching for new homes at LC4, with more dogs becoming available for adoption each day. Our Lucas County dogs need you now more than ever. There’s never been a better time to bring home four-legged happiness. If you have a resident dog and are looking to adopt another dog, please be sure to bring your resident dog for a meet and greet. Also, families are encouraged to bring their children to LC4 to meet their new pet.
All dogs looking for a home can be viewed online at www.lucascountydogs.com/adoption/
According to Best Friends Animal Society, shelters in the United States had an 8.1 percent increase in the number of animal intakes in 2021, far exceeding their adoption rates. So far this year, Canine Care & Control has had an 8.3 percent increase in intakes.
